Had a fire alarm go off T 1223am, I called the desk and she didn’t even know, she was outside and thought the building across the street was going off. It scared me and I felt uneasy going to bed because when I tried calling back down to the front desk no one would answer. I found out the next day that fire dept came and could not do anything because the staff reset the system? The food for supper is only soso, everything comes out of a can and the hotdogs that were real were petrified and over done. The drinks were good!

Best thing about breakfast was the coffee and the live staff on site did help with the remote check in ......since that was like a zoom call experience!!

The room has clearly recently been updated, the walls were nice and clean, the sheets and blankets also seemed to be fairly new, and the furniture was in pretty good shape. The man who checked us in, the paper we received said his name was Owen and I hope that's the right employee, was amazing. There was an issue when we entered the room and he was very quick to fix it for us even though it's not really his job, I'll elaborate more in the section for what I didn't like.

Mount Vernon was fine - the Motel 6 was terrible.
Mount Vernon was fine - the Motel 6 was terrible. We should have paid extra for a nicer place but since we were just driving through we wanted to save money. We had supper at a BBQ place just up the road from the motel and the food and service were good. Bandana’s BBQ I believe was the name of it. The negative there was they were out of everything - no brisket, turkey, or ribs. Our choices were chicken and sausage. Then our waitress came back to say they were out of chicken! This was at 7 pm on a Monday night! And they were not even crowded - somebody dropped the ball in the planning department. So over all next time we come through here we will just keep driving.

Pro: Great Barbeque restaurant walking distance, Decent breakfast in lobby, working TV, Lots of parking, located just off freeway exit.
Con: Horrible staff who apparently have little training on computer system - refused to try to find my reservation and then overcharged me when I left. Room smelled like urine, carpets were so dirty if you walked barefoot on them your feet turned black.
Never again!!!

I have stayed in Mt Vernon numerous times.
I have stayed in Mt Vernon numerous times. Since COVID, no one wants to work, nor do they care to keep things clean. I have stayed at Days Inn in the past and had no complaints. That is no longer the case,It’s not the same

Staff recommended a great place to eat within walking distance. Wasn't planning on staying in Mount Vernon but snowy/icy conditions made travel unsafe so we stopped early and found this gem. Very accommodating especially as it was the first night of a two week road trip.
I was not expecting much in the way of décor based on the price I paid. The room looked great. Sometimes when rooms are updated the hotel will not fix walls, etc. Everything about this room looked good. I slept well in the bed and the water stayed hot enough to finish my shower. :-) I was at the end of the hallway, which could have meant hearing foot traffic down the stairs, but the room was quiet. It was July in IL, so it was hot. The AC was already on in the room , set to 70* so I did not have to wait for the room to cool down.
The front staff seemed kinda grumpy. There was 3 people checking in 2 people people behind the counter. Only 1 person doing the check in. The breakfast buffet was ok but needs work. On the breakfast buffet my problem was there was no hashbrowns. The breakfast buffet was very limited. Im guessing the breakfast buffet was due the covid craziness. On the room. I could gotten a hotel just as nice but cheaper with a fridge in the room.
The beds were comfortable, had the best pillows too. We had the best night sleep on our Spring Break at this hotel. Even better than a full week at a very expensive beach house! Outstanding breakfast that made me question why I haven't stayed at a Drury Inn before. The staff was excellent! Great parking area and it felt very safe. Will definitely be staying at a Drury Inn again in the future.
This is not a high end hotel but it is very clean and comfortable! My husband and I were traveling and needed to stop for the night. Most of the hotels we usually stay in were booked. It was out of desperation we chose the Royal Inn but it will be intentional next time! Owen greeted us with a smile and warm welcome. He is an asset to the company!
Was glad to see bacon. Most hotels had sausage. A good variety. Coffee was in the lobby with easy access any time. Staff was very friendly. The bed was comfortable. We liked the smaller square pillows better than the great big overstuffed ones. Nice having the thermostat on the wall.
There were many options for breakfast. It was the typical hotel breakfast however they did serve more than just waffles. The options included gravy and biscuits. The room was clean, it was quiet, and the staff was friendly and professional.
I enjoyed the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom. Everything worked. The bed was incredibly comfortable. I don’t believe I’ve ever slept that well in a hotel room. The breakfast was generous and delicious.
After traveling all day it was so nice to just be able to stay at the hotel for “dinner” and not have to go to a restaurant. Added bonus was being able to enjoy a drink or two. Nice breakfast also.
Lovely hotel. Great staff who truly love where they work. The breakfast and evening food provisions were great. Nice pool and spa area. Everything you need in one place.
